Cook your way to UBC Food Services fame at UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan! Submit your favourite healthy snack recipe for a chance to win.

The contest runs September 25 – October 9, 2017. Recipes must be tree nut and peanut-free, easy to grab and go, and contain a minimum of two food groups (based on Canada’s Food Guide).

This contest is part of a campus-wide initiative to support the health and wellbeing of our UBC community and to work toward creating a nutritionally sound campus. For more information, please check out the Action Framework for a Nutritionally Sound Campus.

UBC Vancouver

The winner will receive a $50 UBC Food Services Gift Card. The winner and two friends will also work with UBC Executive Chef David Speight to perfect their recipe and have it featured at a UBC Food Services outlet for the whole campus to enjoy. It will also be the feature snack at the UBC-wide Thrive Kick-off party on October 30The runner up will receive a $15 UBC Food Services Gift Card.

UBC Okanagan

The winner will receive a $50 Aramark Gift Card. The winner and two friends will also work with Aramark Executive Chef Gord Robinson to perfect their recipe and share lunch together at the Thrive Windup event on November 3. The runner up will receive a $15 Aramark Gift Card.

How do I enter? Please submit your recipe for a healthy snack through the form on this page. You are welcome to submit as many entries as you like.
How long does the contest run? September 25 – October 9, 2017. Entries will be accepted until midnight October 9.
How will the winning recipe be selected?

  • UBC Vancouver Entries will be evaluated by Melissa Baker, Manager of Nutrition and Wellbeing, and David Speight, UBC Executive Chef, based on the recipe requirements: Recipe must be nut- and peanut-free, easy to grab and go, and contain a minimum of two food groups (based on Canada’s Food Guide).
  • UBC Okanagan submitted recipes will be evaluated by Chef Gordon Robinson, Aramark, based on the recipe requirements: Recipe must be nut- and peanut-free, easy to grab and go, and contain a minimum of two food groups (based on Canada’s Food Guide).

When and how will the winner be announced? The winner will be announced October 23, 2017. We will reach out to the winner through the contact information provided with their submission.
