Nutrition Month Recipe Contest | March 15-31

Have a recipe that rocks? Share your favourite meat-free main dish for a chance to win great prizes!

Chop, dice and sauté your way to UBC Food Services fame! Submit your favourite vegetarian entree recipe for a chance to win a $50 UBC Food Services Gift Card. The winner and two friends will also work with UBC Executive Chef David Speight to perfect your recipe and have it featured at a UBC Food Services outlet for the whole campus to enjoy!

This contest is part of a campus-wide initiative to support the health and wellbeing of our UBC community and to work toward creating a nutritionally sound campus. For more information, please check out the Action Framework for a Nutritionally Sound Campus.

Requirements

Recipes must be budget-friendly, have nutritious ingredients, be easy to make and require minimal skills and equipment, prioritize local and accessible ingredients, taste delicious, and have six key ingredients or less. Basic seasonings and oils won’t count toward the key ingredients.

Prize

The winner will receive a $50 UBC Food Services Gift Card and will work with UBC Executive Chef David Speight and up to two friends to perfect the recipe and share lunch together. The recipe will become one of the UBC’s Signature Recipes and be served at a UBC Food Services location.

Who can enter? UBC students, staff, faculty, community members, and alumni.
How do I enter? Please submit your recipe for a vegetarian entrée through the form on this page. You are welcome to submit as many entries as you like.
How long does the contest run? March 15-31, 2017. Entries will be accepted until midnight March 31.
How will the winning recipe be selected? Submitted recipes will be evaluated by Melissa Baker, Manager of Nutrition and Wellbeing, and David Speight, UBC Executive Chef, based on the recipe requirements: Budget-friendly, nutritious ingredients, easy to make and requiring minimal skills and equipment, local and accessible ingredients, taste, and number of ingredients.
When and how will the winner be announced? The winner will be announced April 10, 2017. We will reach out to the winner through the contact information provided with their submission.
