Who is it for?

UBC students.* It is especially ideal for those living in residences with no required meal plan.

*Students with a residence meal plan are not eligible for this plan.

How does it work?

Pre-pay at $275/month, $1,075/term or $2,150/academic year and save 12% off food and non-alcoholic beverages at UBC Food Services Locations. This plan is not accepted at Campus Partners.

Combine this plan with a Chomp UBCcard Plan to pay for printing services and to make purchases at Campus Partners at regular prices.

Dollars do not expire. When your contract expires, the remaining balance is auto-transferred to a Chomp Carryover Plan valid for 5% off food and non-alcoholic beverages at UBC Food Services Locations.

Terms & Conditions
  • Available to UBC students only. Plan is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Dollars are valid only at UBC Food Services locations, and are not valid at Campus Partners.
  • Dollars cannot be redeemed as cash and/or applied as payment to any other UBC Food Services or Student Housing and Hospitality Services account.

How does it work?

Start by loading $5 or more through the online service centre, then save 5% on food and non-alcoholic beverages at UBC Food Services Locations. It can also be used for purchases at Campus Partners, printing and vending at regular prices. Top up your balance online or at a cash register.

Terms & Conditions
  • Card is non-transferable.
  • Card holder is responsible for all transactions made on the card and for any indebtedness arising from such use.
  • UBC Food Services reserves the right to withdraw any or all card privileges.
  • Dollars do not expire. Refunds subject to $25 administration fee. Refunds take 4–6 weeks to process.
  • Information is kept confidential in compliance with the Freedom Of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Lost card(s)? Go online to freeze your account. File a report and get a replacement card at the UBC Carding Office. Reactivate your account.

How does it work?

Fill out the easy online application form. Please submit separate applications for each card required.

The plan works like a credit card – charges add up and monthly payments are automated by JV. You’ll save 5% on food and non-alcoholic beverages at UBC Food Services Locations.

Terms & Conditions
  • Cannot be used at Campus Partners.
  • Card is non-transferable.
  • Card holders/departments are responsible for all charges and any indebtedness arising from such use.
  • UBC Food Services reserves the right to withdraw any or all card privileges.
  • UBC Food Services will post all card charges to a standing journal voucher (JV) at the end of the month. Balance starts at zero on the first of the month.
  • Each speed chart must have its own journal voucher. Multiple cards can be assigned to one JV as long as they are applied to the same speed chart number.

Lost card(s)? Report it immediately to UBC Food Services and to the UBC Card Office.

NOT AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

Who is it for?

Students with unspent Residence Dollars (from a Residence Meal Plan) or a Chomp Student Meal Plan balance at the end of their contract.

How does it work?

If you don’t request a specific refund option at the end of your contract, it lands in a Chomp Carryover Meal Plan. Use it to save 5% off food and non-alcoholic beverages at UBC Food Services Locations.

Check your remaining balance online or at a cash register.

Terms & Conditions
  • Dollars are valid only at UBC Food Services locations, and are not valid at Campus Partners.
  • Non-refundable, cannot be redeemed for cash and/or applied as payment to any other Food Services accounts.
  • Card holder is responsible for all transactions made on the card and for any indebtedness arising from such use.
  • UBC Food Services reserves the right to withdraw any or all card privileges.
  • Funds in this plan will expire and no longer be available to be spent three years after the activation date of the plan.
  • Information is kept confidential in compliance with the Freedom Of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
  • This declining balance account is accepted only at UBC Food Services outlets on campus.
  • Purchases of food items and non-alcoholic beverages will receive a 5% discount from posted retail prices. Purchases of alcoholic beverages and merchandise items will be subject to full retail pricing plus applicable taxes.

Participating Locations

Chomp UBCcard, Carryover and Department plans save 5% on food and non-alcoholic beverages at UBC Food Services Locations. Chomp Student plans save 12% on food and non-alcoholic beverages at UBC Food Services Locations.

Purchases at Campus Partners, Pay for Print, UBC Bookstore, campus vending and alcoholic beverages at UBC Food Services Locations are not discounted.

FAQs

WHERE CAN I USE MY MEAL PLAN?

All plans can be used at UBC Food Services locations. The UBCcard plan can also be used for regular price purchases at campus partners, campus vending and the UBC Bookstore. See participating locations above.

HOW DO I MAKE PURCHASES?

Your UBCcard is your meal card. Swipe it at the register when you make your purchase.

WHAT IF I LOSE MY CARD?

Lost or stolen UBCcards must be deactivated and reported immediately.

  1. Freeze your Residence Meal Plan by deactivating it through the SHHS Online Service Centre.
  2. Report your lost/stolen UBCcard through the UBC Carding Office.
  3. Get a replacement card from the UBC Carding Office.
  4. Visit a UBC Food Services location on campus and ask the cashier to swipe your new card—this puts your new UBC Card information on the system.
  5. Reactivate your Residence Meal Plan through the SHHS Online Service Centre.

UBC Food Services assumes no responsibility for fraudulent use of your UBCcard before your account is deactivated and your lost/stolen card is reported to the UBC Carding Office.

HOW DO I MAKE PAYMENTS AND TRACK MY BALANCE?

Visit the online service center and sign into your account to make payments, add dollars and track your balance.

WHAT IF I RUN OUT OF MONEY ON MY UBCCARD PLAN?

Top up online, in person at the SHHS Main Office, or at any UBC Food Services location.

IS THE CHOMP UBCCARD PLAN REFUNDABLE?

Yes. Refunds are subject to a $25 admin fee and take up to 4 weeks. Contact us to request a refund.

WHAT IF HAVE MONEY LEFT OVER ON MY CHOMP STUDENT PLAN?

This meal plan is non-refundable. Balances are automatically transferred into a Chomp Carryover plan at the end of your contract, giving you a 5% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages at UBC Food Services locations.
